Hi everyone, im new to this but anyway, i got an aquarium last week and im gonna put fish in it soon, its 60 litres but i don't know which fish to put in it. Can anyone help?

Hello, james and welcome to tff. I joined this week to so I am new to. I would go with silverdollars, blacktetras, tinfoilbarbs,or anything like that. Do you want fish that get big or that stay small???

Alex.

I think i would like some small fish, a few bottom feeding ones and maybe one or two "biggish" ones, its quite a large tank. Any ideas?

How about tetras, some of them don't get too big. Also minnows and harlequins which are nice peaceful fish. You could probably have a Bristlenose pleco or a few ottos for keeping your tank clean. :)

60 litres = 15 us gallons = 13 uk gallons.

You could easily have a shoal of small tetras or harlequin rasorbas or something around that size. For centerpiece fish how about a dwarf gourami ? Bottom feeders you could have a few zebra or khuli loaches or some corydoras.
Then there are things like Otocinculus (tiny algae eating catfish) and Shrimp. 60l is not a bad size you have quite a wide array of choices.
If it were me I'd go for something like 6 Cardinal Tetras, a Dwarf Gourami and 3 khuli loaches.

can I just suggest that if you havent already, read the thread on fishless cycling.

I would put a school of tetras a small catfish and maybe a trio of gouramis? 1 male to 2 female However the gouramis are very sensitive and so are most tetras

I just completed a fishless cycle and have added 6 lemon tetras and three dwarf rainbowfish.

All seems well and the fish are shoaling together quite happily.

I used Zebra Danios to assist my tank cycle. These very hardy fish tend to swim midwater to top and the shoal gets quite strewn out but when they feel threatened or when the light first comes on in the morning they group up tightly again and produce a great scene. A lot of people aren't massive fans of these fishes because they aren't fantastic looking fish but I find them to be very interseting and extremely hardy for a beginner like myself.

PS: I see someone recomeded Lemon Tetras, I love those fish. :)
