I have an option to go this afternoon and pick up a 75 gallon setup with matching cherry stand and canopy. I am wanting to make this an African Cichlid tank. My question is that I personally believe a 55 gallon would go better in my arpartment as I am on the 3rd floor. However I'm not completely against the 75. I can pick up the 75 today but will have to wait several weeks for the 55. I would rather have the 55 but don't want to wait 2 weeks. Would it be that much more beneficial to have a 75 gallon for cichlids or will a 55 work just as good? I obviously know I can't put as many fish in it, but in general which size would be best for that type of community?

A 55 or 75 won't make much difference in terms of an Mbuna setup. The 75 would allow you to start considering some Hap species as an option. The most important thing would seem to be the weight issue - if you can get it confirmed that the 75 will be OK In your apartment - i'd go with that. :good:

why not do both?? I mean, who said the 75 has to be used for fish, of course I'd vote for the 75 for fish but like ferris said, weight is the issue. so I say get both and look into some kind of lizard or snake maybe? a 75 gallon planted vivarium would be stunning!!!!

I ended up finding a 54g corner tank that I picked up for a good price. However it was already drilled, and I got a Rena canister filter. I'm having a hard time trying to get all of the hoses to match up cause nothing is the same size. Any advice, or do I just need to not use the overflow and plug up the holes?
