New Addition.

Did you go fishing for him, or did you buy him?
Fished him. Pond is so horrible its super easy to catch fish.

Nice! Watch out that he doesn't get an infection where the hook got him. I have had that happen to bluegills.
I've watched this with all my fish, they where all caught on hook/line and clean water and some prime seems to do the trick pretty well! Thankfully after such a dramatic change from such bad water to good water has helped them cope well, such strong fish.

Yep, was supposed to have a few guesses that where way off though... You guys got it so fast.. :D Well played.
He's probably the only 8 inch black crappie I've seen in that pond, there are only 2 very small 3 inch ones that I've seen other than that, it's now in my fish tank and doing very well. Surprised it adjusted to the high ammonia water so quickly.

You could have cycled the tank. I just think that they will outgrow that tank VERY quickly. I know nothing about natives. I don't know how large they get, but I think, and so do you, that it will get bigger. I hope you either get a larger tank, and get some fish to feed your moniter. SOrry for the rude things we said in the previous post, but we just aren't use to people keeping fish like you do. Oh and crawdads need land and water. I hope part of you aquarium has land, like one built for a turtle, they like to dig through dirt.

At some point he will probably outgrow it, in which case the larger fish will spend next year in my 500g pool. The crawdad is more or less food for the green sunfish, they are a natural prey item, so I'm hoping to get to witness how these guys manage to eat one.

Oh okay, I didn't know that. And good idea on your pond.

Mr. Nile Moniter, you mean, right. OMG I can't even think of that. So you aren't keeping fish for ornamental purposes? Just for cheap food?
