Try to source some nice large peices of wood,i was lucky enough some large braches came of my parents oak tree a few years previous, good scrubbing they went in the 5ft a treat, IMO i would take out that large ornament unless its serving a purpose? get yourself down local garden centre<not the fish shop in some centres> look for slate outside, picked up tonnes for like a pound each, split it up and get some large terracotta pots to form hiding areas, unless your fish get along fine?
