New 55 Gallon Tank With 4 Convict Cichlids

Well I have a 55 Gallon tank with 4 Convict Cichlids. I want to get more fish in with them, but I know they are aggressive fish, and only can add certain types of fish. I also would like a clean up crew, but again, need something compatible with the Convicts. I have 1 Amazon Sword plant, I also have 1 Cave, a rock with holes that they seem to love, and a decor bridge. I Def am looking for more items such as a clay pot, and other plants?

Basically my purpose is to see if anyone can help me find any fish, shrimp, snails, anything compatible with these fish, so I can mix, and have no worries. Please anyone feel free to contact me as I am a starter and would REALLY love the advice! Thanks!!!

i've heard that barbs (ie tiger barbs) might be possible tank mates as they are fast & quite tough, also plecos (catfish), maybe another species of south american cichlid that gets to a similar size.

Hi, do you know how many Males and Females you have in the group?

Shrimp will become a snack, whereas Snails are more often than not IMO ignored.

I would go with a few good sized Giant Danios, and 2-3 Hoplo Catfish
