Neons not schooling

what size tank is it? Usually neons will only show true shoaling ways when they are in a large open area

How many neons do you have? I have heard that they will not shoal properly unless you have around six.

10 Neons
Tank size 70 gals

other fish

5 guppies, 4 Zebra Danios, 2 corys, 1 Bristlenose
Ammonia 0
Nitries 0
Nitrates 0
PH 7
Temp 24 Celcious

 Don't know what's wrong,

ive got 10 neons and they dont school...........my friend has 15 and theyre always together............so maybe u should get more.

judging by the other fish in your tank, your neons aren't sticking together because they are not afraid/leary of the other fish in your tank.. They are not the tightest schoolers unless there is a percieved "threat" in the tank. At least that has been my experience.

-_- So they feeling safe, that's why they don't school. Mmm Would a couple of Gouramies help to make them school? I am planning to add 4 dwarf grouramis and 2 Pearls and maybe 2 moonlights. Is that a good idea? or too many gouramis

I have 9 neons and they never school, not even when the betta flares at them.

i have 5 neons and 3 glowlights and they always school, it is really funny when the glass cats school with them though, all the tetras look at them like they are space aliens and try to run away :fun:

its nto good for them./......they needto grow........or maybe u should get less neons.....maybe about 5 or 6

I have 8 cardinals and 8 rosy tetras in a 180l tank. At first they schoolled but as they got used to the tank they just did their own thing.

I added dwarf gouramis and this made no difference. There's always been guppies there, they are quick and mess around but the tetras are fine with them.

Recently I added some young diamond angelfish. This has made a difference. All the tetras school in their own groups and swim about the tank. The angels are natural predators of some tetras, but I've heard that if they grow up with them they should be okay and not be expected to snack on them. Here's hoping anyway.

I'm afraid a lot of people hear that, then as the angels get bigger, they suddenly start to notice their small tetra schools are getting smaller.
