I'm planning java moss wall for 4ft tank and need a way to mount mesh to back wall. As i want to minimise possibility of fish getting between mesh and glass I want to avoid suction cups. Was thinking about using 10x10mm neodymium magnets which i know are strong enough to hold through glass.

Anybody used those in freshwater aquariums? If yes - were there any corrosion issues?

why not use aquarium sealer to fit it to the back wall

Aquarium sealant is "bit" too permanent solution. Any changes or emergency in future would req ripping everything out, removing old sealant from glass etc.

How about..... covering the magnets in a layer of silicone instead? Should stop anywater from reaching the magnet just incase there not 100% tank safe.

The glass cleaner that I use has the rare earth magnets in it and has been doing fine in my tank. I have no idea what it would be like long term but it is in the water quite often and doesn't seem to be causing any problems.
