Need Some Help On Clean Up Crew..

They need to be acclimitised just as all other livestock do

I normally float the sealed bag for 30 mins then (using the Drip method) I slowly acclimise the inverts for about 1 - 2 hours

Starfish need to be acclimitised for longer periods of time, some say 6 hours so 12 depending on the species

Thanks mate, your the man in the know :)

Do I need to think about any special lighting ti keep these invetabrates? do the crabs need to surface from time to time or do they spend 100% of the time underwater.

What order can we add livestock to a new tank? Should it be a couple of shrimp, 5 or so snails for a couple of weeks, then something like a starfish?

Hey,

Hope im not hitchhiking this post, but I am also in the process of planning my clean up crew. I don't really want any snails as well I just dont like them lol. At the moment I am thinking of some red legs, but not sure what else to get? Also how many will I eed for my tank (stats in my sig).

They dont "need" to surface, but sometimes they get curious, climb up a powerhead cable and do so ;).

I read you have LR in your canister filter, wouldn't it die if it's not exposed to sunlight?

OMG please tell me the turbo snails won't climb out either, my wife (brittlestarfish) is petrified of snails. She doesn't want me having any at all but if they start climbing out I'm a dead man.

With regards to my LR in my canister, no its a very widely used method. I am a newbie to marine so not sure how it works, but I think its good lol!

My turbos have never climbed out but sometimes my Cerith snails do. Its happened 3 times now and when the do climb out they beach themselves on the rim of the tank and just sort of sit there until I dump them back in the tank. Same thing with hermits, they never get past the rim of the tank if they do make it out
