I have added some plain ammonia to the tank to start the cycle. It must be a weak ammonia... I started with 2 drops (LOL) and wound up at 30! The reading is a good strong 3.0. Is this enough or should I add more and get at least a 5.0 reading?
Thanks!! :look:

Depends on how many fish you want to add at once. More fish = higher ammonia.

Hmmmmm! Just 1 betta and a coolie loach if I can find one! Have a sand subsrtate. I went ahead late last night and added more.

Read this article and go for the add & wait method. Has been used by loads of people on this forum.

Your ammonia level should be raised to around 5 / 6 ppm every time you add it to your tank. Work out how many drops you need to raise it to that level then add when your ammonia levels drop below 1ppm. I added 30 drops every morning but it completely depends on how much waters in your tank and how strong your ammonia is.
