Need Help Treating For White Spot

I need some help treating my fish for whitespot. I have a small tank(10 gallons) and I use a top power filter that utilizes the pad with the carbon granules built in. I know when I treat there can't be any carbon in the filter but I have no way of removing it, so what should I use as filtration while I am medicating?

I am recently back to having tropical fish. I have a Whisper ex30 with the type of filter you describe. I plan on keeping an old filter pad when I change my filter. There is carbon inside the filter pad. I may cut it open and remove the carbon or since it has been used leave it in there.

It's one reason why any other HOB power filters I buy will be AquaClear. I like their filter material better.

Someone with more experience may have other ideas for you.
