Hey all I am new to this forum but it look great! I need some good advice
1: I have a 10 gallon tank with a good asortment of about 7 small decent size fish. I was always attracted to the NEONS. I have bought some from stores but were small and died many times. I now have to find bigger ones how many do you think I could put in?
2: I am a decent amount of bubbles in my tank and it is making a strong current in the tank. Is that a good thing or bad thing.
3: Would 2 tiger barbs be able to cooperate with other communtiy fish?

Thanks a lot

What type of fish are already in there? Tigers would do better in groups of 5 and aren't typically good with other community fish that have long fins or are too passive. A strong current also depends on the fish and the bubbles don't matter as much as how much surface breaking they cause.

thanks for your reply..

Right now I have

2 striped tetra i think they are called
2 rose barbs
1 Red tail zebra
1 A small clown loach
1 red tail shark

Hi reiben, :)

I don't think I would add anything else to your tank because you are already overstocked.

I know they seem small now but your Red Tail Black Shark will get six inches by the time he is full grown. Your Clown Loach has the potential to outgrow the tank by himself although they usually only get six inches in a aquarium setting. My advice to you would be (as hard as it sounds) to give the Loach and the rtb shark back to the lfs and buy a few more Rosy barbs or tetras....or buy a bigger tank.

And like Teelie said, Barbs do best in larger groups....6 at the least in my opinion.

Hello there - have to chime in too. If the fish you just listed are in the ten gallon that you mentioned you are already over stocked. You can research the adult size of the fish that you have on several dif sites and that will tell you a little about the sizes that you already have.

1)right is ur water quality good or not? how many fish are you putting in at once?
You should be introducing fish 6 or less at a time keeping about 1-2weeks between. Don't be put off small fish. you should use the inch of fish per gl rule but remember the bigger the filter the more fish you can have (just don't go nuts).

2)bubbles don't oxygenate the water it's the current created by it that does dat. you should invest in a good powerhead or put the out let of ur filter at the top so it moves the surface of the water.

3)Tigger barbs are comunity but they should be kept 1 male for evey 2 females and is best to keep about 6.

hope this helps
