Need feedback on this 120-gallon tank

Personally, in a large tank, I like a mix of big and small fish. If I were doing a 125 gallon, planted tank with a Southeast Asia theme, I'd do:
10 Pearl gourami
40-50 harlequin or espei rasbora
20 dwarf chain loaches
20+ amano shrimp
20 kuhli loaches.
Or maybe skip all the loaches and get a school of two-spot catfish (Mystus bimaculatus)
That's what I'd do.

I'm assuming that pearl gouramis are larger than sparkling. Will they not try to eat the smaller species in the tank?

Thanks for the headsup about the loaches - didn't know they'd go after shrimp like that.

And golden dwarf cichlid (nanacarra anomala) is a species from Suriname. They just might not be a very popular species, but I like the blues and golds on the male's sides.

It appears there are several different catch location and some stay small and others are larger; the blue form i've had have all stayed much smaller than the green form. You obviously have the blue form

Pearl gouramis get to around 4" (closer to 3 in my experience). The males will get a little aggressive with each other while breeding, but in a big tank with plenty of room to spread out they should be fine. Otherwise they are quite gentle. I kept five in a 55g with harlequins and even tiny blue rasboras (Sundadanio goblinus), and the gouramis completely ignored everyone else, even when breeding.

I had no idea they were called Golden Eyes, but I love the one I have right now. I kept him with 2 females but it seemed like every other week there was a new batch of fry so I moved him to my 40G.

Yeah, they'll breed quite a bit. I only had one ever make it to adulthood, this being a community tank. Males are more colorful than females. It's easy to tell them apart once they're grown. I usually try to go about two to three females to every male, but in a larger tank I'm guessing you could do 50/50.

Yes they are one of my favorite dwarf cichild; the one i had for 4 years was extremely adaptive and show a great deal of intelligence learning to deal with new situations - sadly it died and i haven't found a good quality replacement. The one i had was a hobby bred fish that had been dropped off at our local fish store; the replacements have all been cz farm bred and they have not done well.

Is that a cory eques with him ?

It's the only dwarf cichlid I've had and I love them.

I've got a small group of 5 bronze cory cats that follow him around like he's their ring leader.

Man I’d be all over that making it a barb tank (minus Tiger barb). Lots of Barbs are from Asia

At the very least you gotta have some Snakeskin barbs in there. Awesome looking fish and peaceful
