Great idea to take your time! It took me almost 3 weeks to name my first Betta, a beautiful turquoise fella. He was playful, sociable, and made me love him even though I hadn't wanted ANY pet to begin with!
He was a gift.
Anyway, after I learned that the bubble-nest was not some weird fungus
, I bought him a girlfriend that he tore to shreds when I wasn't looking, and
then I learned that was normal, so I got him a
new girlfriend, and said to the fish-store guy, "Well, I suppose I'll take her home to the Marquis." That's when I decided to name him Markie, for Marquis de Sade! And because I put the girl in an oil-lamp chimney this time, I realised she was like a Genie waiting for Master to be ready for her to come out. And so, she was named Genie!
The other female is still nameless
but I'm not too worried about it; I'm sure the right name will make itself obvious in time!
I think sometimes we try soooo hard to come up with a name that goes with colour, or activity, and then personality and circumstance step in!
Please don't forget to let us know what you decide! I keep checking this thread; the whole process of how and why we name our pets is fascinating!
