Nano Tank Ideas

Don't remember stocking these.

What the heck are they? Counted 5 so far.
If you’re talking about those things that look like scratches on the glass…and if they’re moving they’re probably Detritus Worms. I think we’ve all dealt with them before. It’s been a long time for me so I don’t remember what I did but I’m pretty sure I did a water change but I had fish so they also could have eaten them.

Had to come in with those plants, if you are not overfeeding...params are fine, nothing to do with the worms
I try to purchase plants that come in those “pest free”packagings for this reason. If for any reason I purchase loose plants I do a bleach wash….which terrifies me so I try to avoid that route

Shrimp :) Although if you get cherrys they will end up breeding like nothing, I started with 5 now have about 40 and the first batch of babies are now starting to produce. If you don't want to end up with that (although I'm sure you could sell/give away excess shrimp) You could go for amano shrimp, they need brackish water to breed.

Theres also ghost/glass shrimp. They used to make me chuckle when I'd drop wafers in for my plecos and the bigger ones would cheekily grab them and run off with it.

Appear to be detritus worms

Bonus critters! Look like detritus worms. Also harmless.

Too bad the shrimp don't eat them!

Speaking of... I picked up some Hikari Shrimp Cuisine. Package says every day. Do they need it every day or should I do every other day and let them graze the rest of the time? I've been running that little light 12hrs a day to try to build up a little algae. Strange since on the main tank I'm dialing the light down to stop algae :D

I’m sure they’d eat the worms if they got ahold of them. They’re total garbage disposals!
and apparently I’m a horrible shrimp mom because I’ve never purchased a food specifically for them. I always figured they get what they need from leftover fish food and all the little nano thingies in the tank. I do, however blanch veggies for them now and again because they love it so much and it’s fun to watch them go bananas

I just inherited one of those little Aqueon tanks from my daughter who got tired of taking care of it. The Granddaughters were supposed to take care of it but being in 1st and 3rd grade that was never going to happen. I think it's a 3 gallon or so. I also inherited 5 nice Neon Tetras with it and a really nice healthy Amazon Swordplant. How that plant is doing so well under that 3/4 watt LED I'll never understand. It's a nice little aquarium. A guy could have all kinds of fun with one. Best of all is the compact size. You can have it anywhere and really get the chance to watch it and appreciate it.

It's OK to feed them a little every day. Keep it pretty sparing, and they'll make up the difference browsing. I don't purposely feed my amanos, but they never seem to go hungry. ha ha

Shrimp got company. Put in a couple blue mystery snails. Been running the light on high to try to create some algae for the shrimp and ended up with it on the sides of the tank. Shrimp don't seem to touch it so I thought the snails could help out. Hopefully this doesn't end up being an issue, but they seem fine together (other than the amano attacking one as soon as it hit the water... reminded me of that cleaner shrimp in the Nemo movie).
