Name The Coral/invert Etc

majano.jpg

Rare but not the best thing to have in your tank.

That looks like a Majano anemone (Anemonia Manjano).

These may be rare in the UK but in Pennsylvania, they are not!
It seems that almost half of the LFS in my area either have an infestation of majano or aiptasia anemones in their tanks.

BTW, does anyone know why I am still in the validating group and not the members group?
I don't use forums to often. Do I have to have a number of posts, or does a mod have to accept me?

I only care because I can't post in the Marine and Reef Chit Chat forum.

Thanks for any help,
Nick

Did you get an e-mail confirmation thingy?

Yeah I got the conformation Email and had to enter the code they sent me.
weird, I may have to try getting a new account.

Do I have to post the next species now?

It's your turn to post the next one, though Seffie may let it slide and let you choose someone else if you don't want to.
Try PM'ing Tolak about your problem.

Alright here are the next ones:

I'm not sure how hard these will be, but I just learned about the coral the other day and it took me a while to identify the species of my macro.

Coral:

Marco:

Good Luck!

Hmmmm is the first one a war coral/blasto?
Second reminds me of Neomeris, Neomeris annulata prehaps?

Coral: Nope, Blasto's usually don't have any flat area sperating the polyps.
I'm pretty sure war corals are the same, where the polyps grow right next to each other.

Macro: Nope, although I would love to find some of that Neomeris annulata.
Its kind of hard to tell from the picture but this macro has a bunch of intertwining braches.

Good guesses as I picked this coral because it looks so similar to a bunch of other common corals. (ie. war, blastos)

Good luck,
Nick

Demasonisrule:

Coral: not a Turbinaria sp.

Macro: It is Codium Edule, but I will give it to you as it took me like a month to figure out the exact species I had. :good:

BTW, I got two frags of the unidentified coral today at the ThatFishPlace frag swap!
I will post a new topic with pictures of all the frags I got in an hour or so.

Nick

Lokemer: It is not a galaxy coral.

I guess this one turned out to be at least some what difficult.

Anyone else what to take a guess? Steffie?

Good Luck,
Nick
