I found a mystery creature in my tank, and I've no idea what it is. Perhaps it's something that has fallen in there? I live in Sydney, Australia so it could be a native thing. It doesn't seem to have an issue with being underwater. It's about 2cm/1 inch in length. I've not introduced any new plants/fish for over a month.

The image is part of Personal Photo, as I'm not sure how to insert an image. In the panel it has a button to insert an image, but it wants me to link to a webpage. I looked under BB Code help, but it doesn't show me how to load an image. The Help facility on the top right hasn't helped either.

270 litre (71 US gal) tank
- 9 female Platy's
- 5 Celebes Rainbows
- 12 or 13 Panda Corydora's
- lots of plants

to load in a pic its best to sign up to photobucket or something like that, once upladed to there it will give you an IMP add and its a caase of cutting and pasting that code, if you like you can mail the pic to me and ill post it for you, are you able to describe in more detail the creature ???

Is it what your profile pic set as now?
As thats a dragon fly nymph these will eat small fish and should be removed ASAP
They live under water for a year or so befor changing into a dragon fly so could of been there a long time.

Thanks everyone. I have removed the Damselfly larva thing. I'm surprised that my other fish didn't eat it as it's out in the open.

I have 12 or 13 Panda's. The 13th Panda is fry that would be about 3 weeks old; I not seen it for at least a week (probably somebody's snack or it's hiding).

Thanks for the help with the image issue Scotty001. Below should show the image, I hope:

Panda's are supposed to be hard to breed. I'm no expert on breeding them, but my Panda's are prolific breeders. I've got eggs laid every 9-12 days. I've only kept fish for about 8 months.

They are more likely to breed why there is a drop in temperature (water change, heater switched off temporarily), or when there is a drop in atmospheric pressure (even more so if there is storm). If I was to intentially get them to breed, I'd look out for low atmosphere pressure readings available from the internet and drop the temperature at the same time.

Today Sydney, Australia had a really hot day 34.7 C or 94.5 F. There is a forecast of possible storm, which has yet to eventuate. My Panda's are ethusastic tonight (its 8:30 pm), and the Platy's are eating their food.

If their happy they will breed and the usual trigger is a large water change.

Best of luck with then though.
