My Tanks...some Of Them Be Round!

u got any more pics of the biube?
also are the lights in the top interchangeable with the biube and biobe

You will have run into me on the 'other side'...jennybio...so I think you've got your answer now :D Halogen and i-lights are interchangeable but don't expect high light requiring plants togrow well...the filtration isn't the best for rooted plants that require burying their roots and the lighting is only sufficient for anubias and java ferns that can be tied to wood and rocks and also moss balls. Java fern isn't bad either :D

Just to update my thread :D

I've got 9 tanks running again as I've just got 2 new bettas in 30L cubes

Hi Jenney

Just wanted to say your tanks are awesome, I've enjoyed reading this thread and seeing your tanks evolve :good:
I've never really been a fan of biorbs (my younger brother had one and I ended up looking after it and found it frustrating) but I do like the look of the Biorb Life (not so keen on the price mind) but you have a talent for showing them off and what you can do with them.

Thank you Dan :D

It's nice to get good feedback about a style of tank that can be very limiting with what can be done with it. I do like the tanks but Reef One don't ddo themselves any favours with the way they package them and the promises they make about them being suitable for goldfish and the lack of cycling information etc. If people are aware of what can be done with them then they are good tanks. If you google, you shall find the right place for info on how to set them up and stock them responsibly :D

I am staggered at the price of the Life range! After all, they are just an acrylic biorb but in a different shape. Not worth the money they command I have to say!

I must say you have some amazing lookins tanks... Just a quick question. I have recently bought a 15L baby biorb and would like to modify it to use sand, fine gravel like the one in your initial post. What filter would you recommend? Also any other useful tips I should be aware of?

Any help appreciated.
Dan. :good:

Hi Dan. Thanks for the comments!

Modifying for sand or fine gravel is easy.

Keep the airstone in if using sand and fill the fixed filter basket area that the filter sits in with smallish pebbles. This keeps sand out of the one way valve in the base. Remove the air pump, knot the end of the airline and add one or two extra one way valves into the airline to safeguard leaks.
The rest is straight forward.

You could use a Newattino Plus 10W heater in the tank. Really small and easy to hide behind something. I used a small filter that came with my Arc tank. It has a short spraybar on which I aimed at the surface for good movement :D

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the tips! Should come in handy... Hopefully receiving my Biorb tomorrow as I have just received an email to say it has been collected from the seller. BTW whilst browsing ebay I have come across bictures of your tanks (marine, and tropical). People are using them to sell their tanks. Just wondered if you knew?

Dan.

Really? Dan can you email me the links please? [email protected] I have a great link for you too if you can email me.

Thanks.

PS What you thinking of putting in your baby biorb? They're not really big enough for much at all.

I will see if I can find them again... it was only a fluke that I was looking at your tanks before I went on Ebay. Only going to put my single small goldfish in there from his little bowl. I just bought a 3ft tank and cabinet that I am collecting thursday.

Have a visit of that link I emailed you.

You're not keeping the goldie in a 15L tank for long - I hope? It won't be suitable for it for very long (honest...I have 6 fancies and they are pooping machines) as the filter in biorbs and biubes isn't big and strong enough to cope - regardless of what Reef One try and tell you - and you also don't really want sand with goldies as it will irritate the gills when they nibble through the substrate for food.
Is he going in your 3 footer? That would be great for several fancy goldies :D

Sorry to go on but it's a subject that provokes strong reactions with me. I curse the day these companies recommended goldies for their tanks and that goes for Reef One and Fluval for their Edge tanks

Hi jennybugs,

I love your tanks and the care you put into looking after your fish. I am a newbie in the world of fish tanks and dare I say it, biorbs. I have acquired a biorb and would like to set it up in the best way I can for the health and happiness of the fish. Could you let me know which fish would be best suited to the biorb 30l tropical set-up or otherwise. From what I have read would an eheim aquaball 2208 filter be the best? I was thinking smoothed pea gravel ( I am no expert bear with me please) but sand does look great. Any information you can give would be great - e.g. including fish free cycles, heaters etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and keep up the great work and information.

Well I've dug out the biube again and got a Pure lid from Reef One to totally transform it :D

I have my two DPs in there with a hidden extra filter
First set up and a touch cloudy

The heater and extra filter are hidden really well at the back.

The Figure 8 puffs tank had a revamp a while back too and is now looking most natural
