I currently have a 180 juwel vision with:

6 panda corys
2 juli corys
5 Kitty tetra
4 Glowlight tetra (lost one to dropsy)

I was previously limited by my Betta but as he was being picked on his is in his own tank now and happy.

I would love some neon tetra once my tank is a bit more established but what else can i put in there?

I want to avoid live bearers.

Thanks

increase the current tetra to a minium of 6 - preferably 10.

Increase the panda corys, again 6 minimum, preferably more.

most places sell tetras in 5's round here. I'm guessing that's what you bought (having lost one). Go buy another 5, and another 4 juli corys.

if you want neons, maybe up your current tetras to 8 of each, and add 8 neons.

I know you're wanting to avoid livebearers, but what about male guppies? the more you have means less fighting, and they come in various colours an patterns. Also, the corys will stick to the bottom, from my experience tetras like bottom - mid, and your guppies would stick around the top, giving you a very interesting tank IMO

Agree that you should up your existing numbers before adding another small group of fish. I'd be tempted to swap the julis for pandas and up their numbers to 8-10. Likewise pick two types of tetra and have a large shoal of each. Male guppies would be good for upper level movement and colour.

Or would you prefer some larger fish?

i hadnt thought about male guppies as i had previously ruled them out due to the Betta - how many would i need to have to avoid fighting.

Agreed i definately need more of the original tetras i have.

i do prefer the smaller fish :)

At least 5 or 6 would be fine I think. They might still bicker and display but shouldn't cause any damage.

I had never heard of them until i got them (the only fish i didnt research). They are very active and quick when there is food in - i have 3 males and 2 females (easy to sex), My glowlights have liked them from day one and they all swim together. The males are, at least twice the size of the females.

Its my birthday next week so hopefully i can pursuad my OH to buy me some more tetra and then i can look into getting some male guppies :)

If anyone else thinks of some more fish i could put in please add.

Thanks

I love my male guppies. and I love my neon tetras (although sadly a nasty LFS sold me ones with fin rot so I've just lost the last of the 6 I bought from them).

Going to see if I can buy a few more tetras and 2 more male guppies from the nice LFS at the weekend :) I want some unusual looking guppies, but it's hard finding anything around here that isn't mixed with endlers :( Not that I mind cos my 2 endler guppies are beautiful, but I'd like some of the ones with red leopard type print tails.
