My Shark Catfish

hello!!

i got my new catfish yesterday and was worried about him at first because he was on his own and he looked unhappy and swimming around the top. i intend on getting a friend for him but cant until i get a bigger tank.
he seems to get on well with my other larger fish (they seem to play, not being chased!) and today seems happier and swimming more at the bottom and middle of the tank.
my main question is, do i need to worry about getting a mate for him in a hurry or will he be ok on his own with the others until i do get another tank in the future?
also is there anything else i can do for him to help him settle even more? i.e. any tank ornaments etc?

What size is your tank and what are the other fish in there?

these guys can school with other similar sized fish and will be ok however it will probly be much beter to get a couple freinds as they are much more active. these guys are not really the fish to settle down when they are hapier they are more active. strange fish but cool in groups and if u can care for them

This is a peaceful fish and very good in a community aquarium as long as it is kept with tankmates it own size.

The Silver-tipped Shark or Shark Catfish is actually a brackish water fish! So they would prefer hard water with salt added. As with many of the livebearers, 1-1.25 teaspoons per gallon of non-iodized salt is usually recommended.

Both platies and swordtails are freshwater fish that live in hard water, not salt/brackish water.
