My River Reef 94 Marine Adventure!

Forgot to mention I got a torch coral cheap last week from a loacl reefer whos breaking his tank down he also gave me a little kenya tree which I don;t need as I have one and asmall piece of rock with green star polyp on

The torch is lovely I;m trying to find it a location where there is not too much flow but it glows a beautiful flourescent green at the base

the green star polyp is also lovely but its on a tiny piece of rock about an inch long. How can I place thjis so that it has somewhere to spread to?

heres the torch coral I love it just hope its not getting buffeted too much in the flow as I;ve read thats bad

the finger coral which is starting to look better than a warty hand

and DAVE the Lawnmower Blenny who is providing me lots of good times watching his crazy and bizarre behaviour compounded by the daft look on his face

looks good but i think your torch will kill your toadstall if its kept touching it

I didn;t know they could do that so thanks for warning. Thats the angle of the camera as well as theres a about two inches between the two

looks happy in that flow, but they do pack a very powerful punch if they want to! so be careful with the toadstool! They can attack it without touching too btw

well things ticking along nicely at the moment

Dave the blenny is spot on everytime you go near the tank he darts out of a rock to look at you, hes shown no sign of illness unlike the clownfish I;ve kept and failed with

the corals are growing, the sun coral is feeding well and polyps look full

all the snails and crabs are active although i need to have a go agt the front glass as a bit of algae forming

loving the tank can;t wait for another fish or shrimp!!

out of my corals
sun coral
torch coral
xenia
finger coral
toadtsool
green zoa
yellow polyps
green star polyp
riccordea florida
kenya tree

do any of them bar the sun have any feeding requirements/additives requirements

nope all tend to be quite hardy corals.
the torch coral will need cal and mag levels to be good to thrive.

doing my weekly checks
ph in tank 8.3 so its up which is a good thing.
ph in replacement RO water from shop 8.0
nitrite 0.0
Ammonia 0.0
phosphate 0.1 (lowest on colour chart)
nitrate 25
sg 1.025sg

bit miffed with the nitrate it was only 6 days ago I had none. I;ve fed the sun coral twice since then and not changed water since then. Got some mixed for the morning

also today I bought a fijian blue and gold damselfish which is tiny and a Coral Beauty which is beautiful

pics later

Looking good Nitrates at 25 is ok nothing to loose sleep about if you want to try and pull it down a little purigen is worth a try :good:

Only just seen this. Sat and read all through and it's both an interesting and very tempting thread. Starting to look good now, shame about your problems with the clowns though.

Hmmmmmmmmm thinking about it the missus was quite disappointed when I told her my tank wasn't a marine tank. Maybe another tank won't be so hard to talk her into after all

cheers Big Eyes.

IOts been an intersting 6 weeks or so so far, very addictive and its changed my whole philosophy on fish keeping, Ive had 19 yrs of keeping fish not that fussy on decor whears now with this I;m more interested in corals and decor

go for it you;ll love it!!

well the coral beauty and fijian blue and yellow damsel seem to have settled in well. no aggression issues with them and the blenny except he seems to have moved from rockwork to inside the big toadstool at the front of the tank

all arer eating which I;m glad as I had a nightmare with the three clown fish. I noticed at the lfs that the clownfish tank I bought them from had none left and there was one dead one at the bottom of the tank. bad batch maybe???

pics to follow when I can get my #16##### in gear
