My Reptile Friends

So beautiful!

My dad always had bearded dragons growing up. One of them used to share his bed and sleep with him at night!

The other one was brutally killed by a brick being dropped on it by a neighbour when it went walk about.

If my dad see's one now, either in captivity or the wild, you can see his heart melting.

Yeah mine takes a little while to figure out which direction is the head, and has actually aten it tail first too, I doubt he will ever constrict because I dont feed live, it is a possibility I guess when he gets a bit older, since babies tend not to constrict.

Rhiannon- You guys need permits in Australia to keep beardies dont you? You also cant ship them out of the continent either, good thing there are enough breeders over here.

My hoggie eats his tail first every feed, the first time i fed him i thought it odd but now after 2 years i dont even think about it and when he strikes if he gets the head he lets go then starts at the tail end

just wondering are hoggies quite good starter snakes? do they smell a lot as well?

thanks

Hoggies dont smell any more than any other snake and if you keep the vivs clean they dont smell at all.
Hoggies are easy snakes to keep and stay small but they are prone to giving bluff strikes at you but they usualy just head but you,This can make people who are not used to snakes nervous around them. They also sometimes make a very loud hissing noise as a warning.Hoggies also carry a very mild venom so its something you have to be aware of,I have an allergy to bee stings and i have only once been tagged by a hoggie and i did get swelling on my hand but a bite from a hoggie for most people wouldnt be a problem
If your confident around snakes a hoggie can make a good starter snake in my opinion

My corn is a bit silly sometimes when i'm feeding her, she just slithers over it and i end up having to pierce the fuzzy a bit... not fun, but i foolishly fed the pinkie before the fuzzy as i'm silly  but she did eventually eat. As for constricting she only ever did that once, as i "teased" her with the fuzzy for the first time and she rele strook.

Hognose snakes look pretty cool, i would have to read up alot on them tho b4 i bought one.
