I also have another bearded dragon named Onyx, but for some reason I guess I havent saved pictures of her on the net yet.

is there any way to find out whether the water dragon is male or female ? my nephew has one and doesnt know how to tell the sex , and how long can they stay out of the tank per day?

If his waterdragon is over 18" you should be able to tell..
Basically a male will develop a larger crest.. also underneath the hind legs males with have a line of bumps that are fairly large and darker in coloration than a female. You should also be able to tell by holding the waterdragon on your hand facing away from you, and gently lifting the tail, look for two bumps near the vent on the tail side.. if there are two its a male, one or none its a female. Better yet if you have a pic and want to share I should be able to tell you the gender, only if its over that length.
They can be out for a little bit of time, I usually dont keep them out for more than an hour because of temperature and humidity differences, unlike beardies where they dont really have a time limit. If its a baby or juvie I wouldnt keep it out for more than 15 minutes, and if he just got it, he should leave it be in the tank for at least a week.

By the way the line of bumps underneath the legs are called Femoral pores, and the bumps or lack there of near the vent is called hemipenil buldges. Just wanted to throw that in there too.

Your water dragons are adorable.
Taz is very handsome boy also. :)
Swift is very pretty also.

I love the beardie and the corn. The waterdragons look nice but i dont do waterdragons myself
I have only ever had close contact with 2 WDs and one got hold of my finger and wouldnt let go and the other one was crazy and its only by chance i didnt get a bite again

Louise- The waterdragon will eat the tree frog, probably not good for him either.

Thanks everyone else for the comments

By the way Graham our waterdragons wouldnt hurt a flea... just crickets and pinkies lol
They've never tried to bite us, some are more aggressive than others though so, you just had a bad experience is all. :)

i have a bearded dragon too. there awesome. mine doesn't whatch another lizard. mine watches parakeets. i think he thinks of them as giant bugs.

mine is geicco, lol.

He was born June 06' so that makes him... bout 7months old.. his coloring is becoming more vibrant with each shed.. he's a cool snake.

Cool mine was born around that time, i have an albino amel, very pretty eyes ^^ and gr8 temperment, i don't know the gender yet as my mum wont let me get him/her probed... yours looks more chunkier than mine, i need to upgrade feed size, she/he too active atm. What size feed do you give yours?

You can sometimes tell by the shape of the tail if they are male or female but brobing is the best way.If you post a pic of the tail i can see if i can hazard a guess at its sex
