Hi everyone-
I've been keeping bettas for around 5 years now, and this has never happened to me before!

One of my bettas is loosing his front fins. At first I thought it might be fin rot, and bought some betta fix. but after 13 days of treatment, his fins are still getting shorter and shorter. They don't have anything abnormal on them they are just disappearing. I love this little guy and don't want to loose him, so if anyone else can recommend anything I would appreciate it! He's in a 2.5 gallon aerated tank, as i know this sometimes makes a difference with certain medicines.

Thanks soooooo much! and Stevie the betta says thanks as well!

I would stick with the meds. Add salt to boost his immunity and do more water changes if you aren't. I know this removes meds, but high natrate levels cause stress, which is detrimental enough for you to risk not putting in enough meds. Some fish get better with just the water changes.

Hi- Thats why I am soo confused by this. I clean his tank every 4 days and add a teaspoon of salt each salt. Its got an undergravel filter with lighted hood. I've never ran into this problem when adding salt before! Its strange very very STRANGE! :alien:

could just be a genetic fault, if they are not rotting and everything else looks normal i don't see how medication can help. tough call though. i know in some of my spawns i have a few females with stubby little pecs, normal in every other way.

hmmmmm......i don't think its genetic since i've had him for about 6 months and when i got him he had perfectly full front fins?!?!!? -_-
