So I just measured the temp of the pond around midday and it was up to a hot 37 degrees celsius!!

Now I was gonna put goldfish in it but not sure if thats such a good idea, the pond does not have a cover at the moment so is in direct sunlight until after midday so I am going to be building a roof type structure for it before fish get put in so the temps might drop a fair bit with the cover over it.

So is there any type of fish that I could put in it?

How many gallons is your pond?

blimey mines about minus 37 at the moment where abouts are you Oz?

Its only a little 70 gallon pond an old bath tub.

Simonas yes I am in Australia up in QLD where it is god dam hot

I'm thinking if I can't get it cool enough with some cover i'll go with some electric yellows or some sort of cichlids since they get a reasonable size.

lets just say it's not a pond, it's an old bath tub. and once this is established, those 37 degrees stops being a mystery, what remain a mystery is why you would call an old tub a pond and subsequently wonder why the water's boiling in mid summer quensland sun.

you wouldn't put a dog in a microwave oven, would you? or would you. let's assume you wouldn't then why would you put cichlids in that deep fryer?

Well he said he would cool it and I think you should do the same,Im sure guglar has the health of his fish in mind when he his planning his pond.

off topic: but oooh nice one furry catfish, that was clever...

anyway when you get a shade for the tub and get fish in there you should show us some pics

 no way could that have any type of fish in  would neverp ut any fish in there.

Not even a Koi. A Koi grows WAY bigger

probably an obvious question and may slightly offend you  but are you talking about the one pipe just put up or the bath tub?

lol im ashamed for asking

why not the bath tub? if he cools it with Ice and shade I can't see why he couldn'thouse chichlids.but then again I was never very good at predicting what would happen if I did something

1) Rust is Toxic To Fish from what i heard.
2) Metal conducts heat. thus heating/boiling the water
3) Shade is there for limited time
4) 75 Gallons cant realy hold much.
5) Some metal particals ARE toxic to fish.
6) Who would both? A Plastic pond only costs £60 From ebay.
7) How would he put the filter in etc?

hope that naswered a few questions for you ;)

Thanks :D that's what I mean by "I am never very good at predicting what would happen if I did something"
