yes she is preggers also, although not as far along in her gestation
Yeah, if you are lucky no one eats them. I have 3 danios there and yet 3 small albino corys. I get nightmares the frys are all eaten by them. I feed them now at bedtime just so they're not that hungry,She is definitely close! Livebearers often give birth at night because they feel that they are safer. Its like christmas morning to me when I wake up to fry swimming all over my tank.
Well, that's why I didn't get any male platys. Now I'm getting frys because my platys are already preggy. I wonder now how many times they will drop after their first pregnancy in my tank.Sometimes doing a waterchange does the trick. I allways find fry after a waterchange. I've also got a platy ready to drop. Must be something in the water eh.
I have been observing my platy well and so far she's still big I haven't seen any fry swimming or hiding. Nor has she been having any symptoms of the ones you've mentioned on your link OldMan47 when their about to drop. Lots of advise adhere to my letting the platy dropped in the tank & let the fry take their chances than having the mother stressed out in the breeder trap. Then I will have to try & fish the frys myself. I hope it won't be that difficult & stressed the other fishes too. They always know what the net is for, eh...catching them! Anyways, I will try my best and hope for the best for the frys & my platy. BTW, how long can the frys stay in the breeder w/o being stressed...maximum days? What do I do with the frys in the breeder when I do water change? I'd appreciate all the advise, thanks.I have had many of mine drop during the day while I am at work but I recall watching plenty of drops during the evening when I had less tanks and more time to watch each one closely. If I notice a drop happening, I will usually just turn off the lights to give the fry a bit more of a chance.
Hi Bouv2. Is she getting really big too? My platy is still as active as preggy as she was. I'm observing also my other platy which is preggy too not as far along but if I where to judge by their movements & behaviors this other platy is more nervous, hiding already but like yours comes out to eat. It's like she's claiming her spot already, funny eh. I mean the other one is more huge & quite ready any day now but she's not getting ready at all. Must be a first timer, Size wise my platy is smaller but bigger belly, the other platy is longer but not quite huge. Just a waiting game but honestly I'm getting nightmares about the frys being eaten before I see them in the morning. My gold comet platy has been quiet and hiding in the plants for over a week now. Today she has been hiding in the little hut in the corner of the tank.......but she scampered out for breakfast. Waiting.........
