Nice I like predatory plants. Tried to grow some this year (from those little plant packs from the early learning centre  ) but no joy.

Do you sell them?

Sadley alot of the plants in garden centres arnt very good and are almost destined for death

Yes I can and do sell plants depending on what types you are after might be able to sort something out for you. pm me please.

Also a small note regarding the care of these plants.

1. only water with either rain or RO water. Using tap water will kill these guys due to salt and mineral build up.

2. pot up using sphagnum moss peat or Irish moss peat mixed with either perlite or sand 1:1 mix. Using any other media, compost etc will kill the plants again because of mineral build up.

3. Ideally these plants need to get at least 6 hours of DIRECT sunlight to thrive, more the merrier. My lot get direct sun from 10am - dusk.

4. In winter these plants will go dormant, die back to the roots most of the time, to do so they need to be kept cooler, under 5c. Either in the fridge or in a sheltered spot outside.

Any other question please ask.

Joel

I've had a venus fly trap for about 4 years now, its still in the small pot I bought it in ,should it go into a bigger one or just leave it (don't want kill it)??

Wait till December / January for the plant to be in a real dormant state and then repot in the mixture above.

You wont kill your fly trap repotting it now or even in the middle of summer however it might sulk for a few weeks meaning it wont reach its full potential.

Just saw this... Great info, Joel! No wonder the predatory plants from the garden center never thrived for me.

I should say, the plants still look great even though they are 'dying'.

Amazing plants and pics. :good:

Hiya folks,

You DONT need a greenhouse to keep these plants. Depending where you live you may just need an area in the garden where it is sheltered so that in the winter the plants dont get beaten to death but are alllowed to sleep.

The purple one is called Leucophylla Pink Tube - You will probably have better luck going after any Leucophylla though as this plant was from a breeder lol, not your average plant :)

Is it possible to keep Venus Fly Traps inside? I have a 2.5g, would that be okay?

Those plants are amazing!
Never tried to grow predatory plants before but might give it a go. We always end up growing tons of chilli plants (amongst other things) but end up giving some away as there are far too many!
