My Planted Marine

This is looking great and great to see some fish. I bet this looks even better in the flesh, marine tanks are really hard to get a real life pic, due to the lighting.

love it.

Oh yeah, the blue in the spectrum makes it really hard to photograph. The corals are really quite bright and it just looks washed out in the pictures. I may be having a chat with some photography friends on how to get the color representation more accurate. I'm limited in that I've got either the iPhone or my Sony cybershot. I may be reading the manual in the cyber shot to see if I can get some decent pictures in. Or I'll borrow my sister's to see if hers takes better ones.

Thanks for the compliment, though. This tank is incredible in person.

A mated pair of cardinals would be nice in there! Possibly not with the gramma though..

I finally got around to giving the tank a nice clean and giving it a proper photoshoot. Well, not really a proper one compared to what some do around here, but proper in the sense that I whipped out my HD camera and actually tried to be artistic.

But first a few things.

1. Added Caulerpa prolifera. Can go "sexual" but a lovely plant and the "sexual" issue can be curtailed with regular pruning.

2. I'll be upgrading the lighting in this tank soon. I've been spoiled by Metal Halide and LEDs in my other systems! I found a cheap MH 150W fixture from another hobbyist. Picking that up tomorrow. Yay!

Now for the pictures. Of course with the Halide up, I'll have to take pictures again, but is that really such a bad thing? :p

I want one :(

Awwww, yeah, they're pretty cool to have. So out of the box, IMO. I love my planted marine.

Well, I did it! Got a sunpod 150w Metal Halide for $60 from another hobbyist. Works great. Installed the light. Best showed with video.

I already see better growth in the Halimeda and the sea grasses. Need to prune again. *sigh*

Thanks for looking,

That video was very loud lol  the new light looks really great - you can see the difference. I love the ricordeas and the red fluffy looking macro

I'll say it again, you're so lucky to have access to these on your doorstep *green with envy smiley*

Yeah, you're getting a quiet room with not so quiet MH fans. The fluffy macro is, I think chondria or Ochtodes. Not sure. Tomorrow, I think out some macros to take to another hobbyist doing a refugium. In exchange I get some nice frags. Nice to have green thumbs in the SW hobby.
