Stage Four:- Added My Substrate, a very dirty job
I added two bags of the Pond Stuff and two big tubs of the Tetra. There should also be a layer of gravel on top but I have my doubts Lol.

Looking Good Joel,
was it you i Sold My Snails to - Can't remember. If so how they getting on.

Wow, thats lot of new equipment. Someones been saving up hehe. Looking good though. Is that duckweed on the tanks sides?
Looking forward to seeing this progress.

It does has gravel on top however the pond stuff is basically mud in a bag Lol.

Its alot clearer today and by tomorrow should be near normal.

Even though I have co2 plumbed in its not on yet and I plan to turn it on on Monday.

Will update all in a few days :)

Joel

sounds like a great set up so far, im a bit confused as to why the use of a reactor instead of a normal diffuser for the co2, im sorry to everyone if im being a bit dumb here, lol

Cheers Gordon

The reactor can be hidden and used outside of the tank, like Joel has it attached to the external filter. A lot less unsightly than having a diffuser in the tank.

Joel, how much did this setup cost you? Looks like you're getting serious about planted tanks :D
What plants/layout have you got in mind?

To upgrade what I already had, tank, filters etc around £500 - If I hadnt gone for the lighting then it would only be £200 Lol.

Lights - £300
Co2 equipment - £100
Substrate + ferts - £50
added extra £50 just to round my totals up Lol.

Im very lucky in that I dont have to pay bills yet. Still live with parents (im 18) Lol. However everything you see I have bought with hard earned money :) It also helps that the cost has been spread over a few months, dont notice it that much Lol.

Plant wise I havent a clue, going to start off with a lucky dip and see what I like and what I dont.

Im going to have a heavily planted tank, its not going to be as tidy as some on here, but I like the more natural Look.

I have got the co2 started now and its climbing steadily. Once I know its stable I will add the plants & lights and go from there :)

Joel

would like to know where you got that reactor joel and how much you paid for it, and im guessing its just a case of plumbing it in line with the filter and away you go

Cheers Gordon
