I am currently waiting for my water to stabilize and I will begin cycling with some fish. This is my overall plan for the inhabitants....stocked very gradually. Bear with me I am operating on the zone principle I have read about. I will be mixing artificial and live plants. I'd appreciate any comments.
6 Marble Hatchetfish
3-4 Festivums
4 Angelfish
6-8 Diamond or Lemon Tetras
This will max me out I think (that is if I can get away with this many fish)

Btw this will be a planted tank with lots of bogwood and some rocks

My equipment:

38 gallon tank (36" long x 20" high x 12" wide)
AquaClear 70 (300 GPH)
Marineland Stealth Heater 250Watts
Hagen Glo T5 HO Twin Tube (2 x 39 Watts 6700K)

In my experience, you are likely to have problems with angels (and possibly festivums) when they pair up in a tank that size. If this was my tank, I would go for a pair of festivums (maybe start with 6 and sell off 4 after they pair up), replacing the angels with Corys or small plecos. Your general idea and thinking is sound.

My wife is set on having Angels but if they are going to be a problem I will either buy 2 and hope they aren't going to pair or just forgo them. The Festivums are what I really want and I think starting with 6 would be a good way to make sure I get a pair.
