My New Tank

Thanks for that, seems similar to what we're planning. The more support the better eh :good: Looking forward to seeing how your 'scaping turns out.

Alright, Hello!

Here is the update (I think) you all have been waiting for :)
So I got the cabinet and the canopy together, got the filter, and are soaking the small piece of wood that I got! The bigger wood, is already soaked and doesn't leak tannis.
I got 50KG of sand, It's called "Radasand" and got if from my fish store. I just need to finish painting the canopy and set in the light, then I'll start to do the aquascape! :)

I have one question tough: Small (1mm) long pieces are constantly falling of the smaller wood that I am soaking right now. Is there any way to stop this? Please help!

Thats an awesome big chunk of log you have there - could you tell me what it is...did you just wander down to the woods and pick it up, buy it, or what? Did you have to soak it for hours? Sorry I can't advise on the flaky small piece you have...

I got it at my local fish store. It costed around £50, and I only soaked it for 2 hours after it stopped releasing tannis. You can go and pick up wood from the woods, but you have to soak it well, and make sure it's dry wood. :) thanks for the feedback

at that price I'll do the woods! Thanks for that...you must have a good lfs locally; all they have here are puny bits of mopani that they charge around £10 each for! (see my sig).

Good luck with your woody bits, I'm sure it'll stop flaking once you lose the grot (rotted?) surface...perhaps it's not a bogwood/hard wood?

Is that an aps (all pond solution) filter? If so then for the price they are awesome. I had a 2000ef model on my 260 litre when it was home to 3 red belly piranhas, alll 6-7 inch, and it more than "did the job". It was brill. Kept the water crystal clear and ended up with only a tiny bit of waste to vac at the end of the week :)

Nice tank and stand by the way :)

Yes, that is all pond solution filter. :) I haven't tested it yet, I hope it will work out alright.
I am starting the aquascape on Friday with a lot of pictures! :)

You still looking to stock it with angels? What tank mates are they going to have? I can't see you have any problems with that filter :) especially if it's the 2000ef. They are easy to clean too

Yes yes :) I love the angels, and I think I will get some clown loaches and corydoras, and that will probably be it...

What do you think I should put in it? :)

Looking good. We've got the same doorknobs :D

Loving that wood you've got. I imagine if you give the smaller bit of wood a good scrubbing that should get rid of the little loose bits. However, if little pieces keep coming off no matter how much you scrub it maybe it's not aquarium safe. Did you buy it from an LFS?

I've taken a bunch of pics of our stand being built which has evolved in to the entire room being re-decorated in to the bargain so I'll start up a thread soon. I'll be moving my 200l litre on to the new stand and getting a shiny new 240l to join it so looking forward to setting that up

Will be keeping an eye on yours to see how it progresses.

Thanks! :)

Yes, I did buy a wood from my LFS. I even asked if it was aquarium safe, even tough it was in the aquarium section...
They told me it was fine...

I am very interested in your thread! I'd love to see what you came up with ;)

I remember reading the start of this thread but must have missed part of it. Will give it a re read.Your tank is looking good. Can't wait to see the end product.
