Haven’t posted in a while as iv been over at ultimate reef playing with my reef tank. After some time looking at my old 125 litre tank i decided to make a new tropical tank.

So I wanted a tank that that was easy to run with minimal costs and effort. SO I decided to go for fake plants.

Here is my first effort.

The tank only had 10 neons so far but it has only been set up a week. Tank was cycled with mature media from the goldfish tank's sump.

After a few google image searches iv not found may planted ammano style tanks with fake plants used.

That is really unique to do that with fake plants.

I have never seen a setup like that before using only fake plants.

Well done! :good:

They are grass mats by a company called coopet www.coopet.co.uk :good:. The grass mats do come with awful little yellow flowers that I have removed. The mats are about 8 inches square each and cost £4 at pets at home. My local store as a deal buy 2 get a 3rd free. I recon you could do some stunning low maintenance “iguamie” (spelling don’t know how to spell his name) layouts as well with them and a few rocks.

Does anyone else have any tanks put together using fake plant? iv just not seem may about.

Providing you get good quality silk plants you should be able to make some relay spectacular tanks without all the dosing and lighting requirements of the real thing.

I my self have ran high tech tanks before but didnt like the vast amount of water changes required. Mind i was running a 100Gal high tech though.

Wow, never even would've guessed that those were fake plants. Looks amazing!
