im not a betta breeder and never done it im just wondering "doesn't the male eat the babies??

and i was thinking i have a 4 and a 1/2 gal tank with a delta female betta in would i be able to buy a male betta to go in there or no?

its got a floating plant that droops down under the water and a terracotta pot about 4 inchs high with a hole in it so there will be lots of places to hide.

i got another 4 and a half gal tank but its not set up i was thinking of getting a male for that tank and then when hes ready i was going to put the female into a pint glass for about 2 days in the tank with the male and see what happens and if it looks good i will let her in there and see what develops.

Do you eat your own babies? LOL
I have another 10 gallon tank where I have a giant plakat with his babies for a month now. The babies getting big too and I don't see any babies missing! LOL One thing you have to remember. You need to feed the male with his food everyday.
I think I might be the only one who breed betta that at least I let the father babies seat with his babies for 10 days to a month now. LOL Opps.... The giant plakat still with his babies in the tank and the babies are so healthy. :)

I did post 'em! :p Note the gigantic picture of ruby slippers below my previous post? ;)

I doubt they'd fit your feet though, they're a 7 and a half ladies size... wore 'em when I did Wizard of Oz!
They're worth a try to get to Kansas for those bettas, though!

Yup. the babies always stay up and not at the bottom. Therefore it is so easy to clean and suck the bottom out. I am too busy to spend too much time now so the father is so much helpful to babies seat the babies. :p

I've had several different males start eating babies on me when they're sprouting tails! Not all of them are good daddies...some are downright cannibalistic. And, even then, sometimes they grow out of it. And sometimes they don't.
