My new girls :)

Awww snowy....I think the pics are great....and exoddus never mentioned the rats were on death row....you did what I would have done....ps...I like the pic of the 2 rats cuddling the best...hope they are both female, they breed like guppies...lol

Awwwwww. They're so cute! My roommate and I had rats our sophomore year - we called 'em "fuzzy fish", since the only animals allowed in the dorms were fish :p They were great little pets. Mine looked like Paris and was named "Fish". My roommate's was dark brown and she named him "JW".

Hmmm...I wonder if my husband would let me get a rat...

Hey bunny ;) :p . You didnt have to sign up to view the pics did ya? Yes they're both girls. Tomorrow we're gonna get them checked up at a vet to make sure they're okay, healthy, etc. We dunno if these girls were previously in with a male before at the shop so maybe we can find out if they're pregnant or not.

lizard thanks for looking. I think it's funny you went ahead and got rats even with those rules. Good decision :D

 We just had to keep it a secret from a few certain RAs. The rest of 'em didn't care. The girlfriend of one of the RAs had a hamster and she kept it in his room. Another RA walked in our room one time, saw the rats in their aquarium under the bed, and said "Oh, they're so cute!" My roommate said, "Um, you're not supposed to see them..." He said, "I don't see them, but they're SOOOO cute!"

Yes, welcome fuzzypinkbunnyfeet! Ahem, I didn't BAN rats in our house, I just said with a house under 800 square feet and already housing 3 cats, 1 dog, alot of wild spiders(snowy's older sister was always letting them go in the basement so they wouldn't freeze over the winter! ) plus all Snowy's fish that we didn't have any room left! I want it officially noted, on record, that I love rats. My first pets as a toddler were white mice, not as nice, my dad called them Pong and Poo because he said that's what they did. They also bit. Rats don't. The only problem with adorable gentle and very intelligent rats is that they don't live very long! :-(

Ahem, Snowy could have bought Hooded rats anytime from our local vet who raises these cute intelligent gentle loving creatures as food for his two 8 foot boa constrictors! That sorta rescue I'm always in favor of!

I'll 4th the nom. Rats are the best pets ive ever had but sadly one of mine passed away today from a respiratory infection
Thanks for the 4th nomination :hyper: Md.
:( I'm very sorry to hear you lost your rat, they have such fragile lungs. Just some info, pine and cedar wood chips(often sold and used in stores) are toxic to rats . The oils contained in these types of wood can also cause them to have respiratory infections and difficult breathing. So hopefully you didnt have this in their tank.

normally, i don't find rats particularly cute (then again, most i see are filthy street rats). but these two are absolutely adorable!!! the sleeping on and cleaning themselves one are too cute!!! you have a shot of their entire enclosure?

Yeah I have Care Fresh. I think it might have been Myco (most rats are born with it and it shows up with age) But Im giving the other one Baytril just to make sure she doesn't get it.

Wow! I am glad to see someone bsides me with pet rats !!! they are THE BEST pest .. so personalic loving and loyal .. My feeder that I had had for just over 3 yrs. died recently costed me 3 dollars for literally one of the best pets I will ever have :-( , I still have my 2 year old dumbo her and *buster* never got along anyway

Im also glad someone else enjoys and owns rats. Three years an donly $3?? wow i heard on average they live 1-2 yrs, you must've kept them healthy. I got my rat for $7.99, then the manager was nice to give me one for free.
Thats the worst thing about them is their short lifespan but atleast you help save a rat from certain death. But having a short lifespan also means i can save more rats in my life time. Sure do love them though and will probably continue owning them as each one passes away. *tries not to think of the day* :(
