those fish are scary.. especially the goldfish.. with their brain like thing sticking out.. lol

I dont often voice my opinion on these boards over what is kept with what etc, as some people it works for and others it dont, there is no written law its about what works for you, and are the fish healthy etc.
BUT i had to comment on this a frontosa from the lake of tanganiyka being kept with goldfish. i have never seen anything like it, they have totally different water parametres and needs, the goldfish is a coldwater species( ok can heat the water slightly) but a frontosa it needs water around 74-80 degrees, they feed on different food, i would say the frontosa will not last long in those conditions, they need a raised ph.
As i say i dont normally comment as i keep malawi with tanganikan and everyone says you cant do that, well i do and it works great for me, as it might not be great for someone else, but at least the 2 types of fish live in the same water conditions.

frontosa and goldfish that takes the biscuit.

sorry for the rant but i am very passionate about my malawis and tanganiykans.

This is what Maximus meant when he said "waits for the mob"

He was waiting for everyone to jump on you about keeping these two fish together as if you keep the water ideal for the one species, the other will have a severly shortened life expectancy. And, both will be severly shortened if you try to compromise the two types of conditions and meet somewhere in the middle. One species needs a new home, whether that be a new tank, given to a friend, or taken back to the lfs....

ox i couldnt agree more

Just additional thoughts too TaSd... Don't think we are attacking you please. We are just trying to look out for the health of the fish and trying to educate you on these fishes needs (because obv who ever sold you the fish didn't care enough to ask what kind of tank and tank inhabitants he would be with).

They are beautiful fish all around and I hope if you can keep all of them that they bring you lots of Joy :good:
