bettabananas: I bought the unglazed clay pots and saucers at a gardening supply place, soaked them for a few days, scrubbed them and soaked them again.
I used aquarium silicone to fix them together. The original idea was that because I have insufficient light, I had to get the plants closer to the light. Then it developed into caves/hiding places as well.
I'm working on building a bridge between the two pot stacks for more planting near the light.
The firemouth spent the first day and a half mostly hiding under the right side stack. Now he rarely goes under. He apparently is happy. The cae likes going under the stacks too.

ps I wasn't sure if the grasses (don't actually know what they're called) would thrive that far from the light but they seem to be doing well and sending off runners.
