My new Betta!

Hey guys! I have been thinking on the subject of what I should get to stock my 10g with for a long time. I went to my LFS and found a SUPER pretty betta. I a choice of this guy, 3 veil tales, and 2 veil dragon scales.

I haven't named him yet, so any name suggestions would be appreciated.

(These where the best pictures I could get of him, he doesn't like to sit still! He is hiding a lot, I assume this is normal?)

What do you guys think? He is super pretty.

He also isn't eating. Is this normal? They advertised him as a Male Plakat Hellboy betta, just in case you where wondering.

If you just recently got him, then it's normal for him not to eat. It will take a few days for him to acclimatize to his environment.

Oh, ok. Good. He is also kind of small compared to say, a super delta tale or a crowntail betta. Is this a trait of a Hellboy betta?

From what google tells me, hellboy bettas are those with a lot of red in them. He's probably just young.

He looks nice and young. I love his tail shape and colouring. Hes handsome!

His fins are too long to be a plain plakat. I think he may be a spadetail plakat. The tail shape screams spadetail.

He reminds me of an Ace, so thatd be my name choice.

Ace is a good name! I’ll keep that in mind.

Is a spade tail Plakat special in any way?

Spadetails arent very common. Hes a very good looking fish, good catch

No, my koi girl is a regular plakat.

I find it odd that in the US they call some bettas koi plakat or other plakat bettas but in other languages plakat just means betta. There is literally no reason for it to have the word plakat when it already has the word betta

In the US, “Plakat” is used to describe the fin type.
