My New 70 Litre Set Up

Update: Added 3 small bits of slate, which I like. However it is quite tight in there for space so not decided how to arrange it! Any ideas? The two bits of bogwood have a lot of moss etc growing on them so I don't really want to lose them. The amazon swords are quite big, wonder if I should ditch the smaller one and replace with something more straight growing? Any ideas appreciated. Also not sure where to plant the anubia (I think?) that is temporarily unplanted. I may well only use 1-2 of the moss balls as 4 is a bit over kill now.

I agree about the moss balls, try just one and see if you like it. I like the way your tank looks, but if you want more space, try clumping the wood with moss together. You could even push the swords together too, that will give you a bit more room but you can still keep everything in the tank. It looks great, I can't wait to upgrade my tank, Ill be going for a natural look as well :)

Good idea, I'll play around with it tonight and see what I can come up with. I have more slate but two of the three bits are too big really. I didn't initially use the bit below because it has some shiny/crystal type particles. Does anyone know if this safe to use or not?

Looks really nice. What sand did you use? I'm close to deciding to swap my gravel out for sand, especially since I've got 6 corys.

I'm not too sure about this kind of stuff either, but I have read that one way to tell is to put it in a pot of boiling water and see if any bubbles come from the object. if so, then any type of air pockets from inside the rock can escape and harm the fish (poisonous gas). I might look into it a little more if i were you lol

yeah, what type of sand did you use??

Just normal Argos play sand, dirt cheap too. Wash it out a few times, and no cloudiness at all :) With that bit of slate (not used it yet), I'm worried it's containing mineral concentrations or pyrites/galena, safer not to use it which is annoying as I reckon one more bit would raise the two sections up to create more of a hiding area. Might just take a hammer to a bigger bit I have lol

I had to hammer mine into small pieces too  you can do it!

Update, sadly (or good news however you look at it) this tank has been broken down. In it's place is a Rio 125 :) I've taken some decent pics on my slr so when I have a chance I'll start a new project thread on it.

So, you had the old "While I'm at it, I might as well go bigger...." idea hehehehe. GL with the 125L!!! :good:
