Good plan it was too!
I haven't long got back from collecting an awesome piece of second hand bogwood for £7!! Hubby comes through the door and asks to see it, so I told him it was in the bathroom soaking in a bucket, he comes out excitedly saying how good a piece it is and I think he's being sarcastic, lol!
Sound like my missus lol. She looks at me like im crazy when i spend £20 on a bit of wood lol
Anyway Brilly, sorry mate il reframe from hijacking your thread lol nice tank by the way! Look forward to seeing it set up.

All that cost 250 quid? I think I may have to upgrade >.>;

Exciting!

Have you decided on the look and stocking yet?

I have no clue on either haha.

Yup £250 haha cant complain :p

Brilly, just set it up!

Id rather not end up in the dog house to be fair, otherwise i would.

So i finally got a bit done with the tank today.

First thing i did was wash my sand for the bottom of the tank.

I then had fun and games trying to get compact sand out of a rather large red tub.

I then piled the sand up in the middle of my tank.

I roughly smoothed this out with my hand and a little water as i find it easier that way.

I went out and brought 4 rather big pieces of slate from a local garden centre. So my next step was to give these a good wash. Which then left me with the fun task of cleaning the bath before anyone else sees the mess i've made

My next step was to spend the next hour or so slightly moving large heavy rocks inside a brand new tank. Thankfully i didn't end up scratching anything.

My next jobs to decide on what plants im going to add to this tank.

May add some stems from the Cabomba, Wisteria or Ludwigia i have growing in my other tank.

Any advice or criticism at this stage would be great

Got a background on the tank now and filled it up with a whole load of jugs of water.

Has a play around with the rocks and decided on having one upright now.

My platy decided to come get involved in the picture taking action and watch his future home.

Ooh nice hidey holes, that's what we like to see :D bet your platy is getting excited.

nice if u don't mined me asking where did u get the sand from

If its the unipac sand I can recommend, as I've just washed some for my betta tank and not much dust came off at all.

The one I bought was £19.99 for a 'medium' sized bag (doesn't give a weight in kg) but I would probably say about 12kg
