new 100 gallon cycling atm , will be home to piranha 4x nattereri and 2x cariba's
still getting the decoration right , but i have a couple of weeks to get it right ,

yes they r feeder goldfish being used while tank is cycling , they will become food for the p's once tank is ready

what i would do before cycling a tank with some feeder goldfish, is give them a salt bath.

I'm sorry dude. Probably coulda had that tank cycled a lot sooner if you had done it with a fishless cycle. I've cycled 4 tanks now...up to 55gals using pure ammonia and it IS a heck of a lot faster. Plus it gives you a much larger bacteria colony, and to top if all off you don't damage any of the starter fish due to the high ammonia nad nitrites in a starting tank. Bet those goldies gills are on FIRE right now. One day, everyone will know about fishless cycling and will be the prefered way to cycle! lol, till that day, i shall continue to tell people about it faithfullly! Already converted several LFS...wahoo! Great place to start eh! I'll be coming to your town soon! lol....

BTW....awesome tank dude!! If you need some other fish to go in there or you get bored with the pirahanas look me up aight?

Fishles cycle??? that sound cool. so all you do is put some ammonia in the tank and wait till it's done cycling or what? can you PM or something so you can explain this in detail?

There is planty of food you can buy to you pirahna, feeding them with life fish is just cruel.

Its not cruel...its a fact of life. It just is. If that is your view than feeding your baby whatever you may have newly hatched brine shrimp is cruel as well. They ARE living organisms too ya know?! Some fish HAVE to have live foods or they will not survive. Others are just stubborn. Feeding live fish has a few benefits but it also has a lot of downers. For example, your fish can get really fat and unhealthy if just fed goldfish. Not a very varied diet and not to healty either. Also live foods always have the chance of introducing diseases...which in my book is super annoying. Typically it is best if you can get your predatory fish OFF of live foods...or at least to a minimum. Its not easy some times, but it can be done. Plus it gives you the option of varying their food, which is healtier for them. Pirahanas can be trained to eat just about any type of food, including vegetables....so its not just limited to live fish.
