Its not cruel...its a fact of life. It just is.

It's not a fact of life, because in the wild, piranha-
1. dont eat goldfish
2. chase the fish, which means, there a struggle of some kind
In real life, the fish (here, the goldfish) at least god a chance to swin away or somthing, here you just 'serve' it to the piranha..
As you said, piranhas can be trained to eat any type of food.. So why giving it goldfish before trying other kinds?
Anyway, I cant tell you what to do, but my opinion is still that feeding with live fish is cruel..
