My Little Bit Of The Great Barrier Reef. 8x2x2 Tropical Marine Tank.

Have returned the ray back to the aquarium. Just wouldnt eat. tried prawn, shrimp, whitefish as well as some frozen food(brine, mysis, plankton).
He seemed fine in the tank. The majority of the floor space was atleast twice as wide as his body. No other fish seemed to care that he was in the tank at all. He actually started sharing the same cave as the porcupine. Neither seemed to mind.
I just didnt want the risk of him starving to death.

You should not buy any ray be it fresh or salt water unless you have seen it eating. You need to do a hell of a lot of research into rays before making the plunge into buying one. Never buy a ray that’s hips are showing or starting to get the dip between the eyes you are just asking for trouble. As Andy said your tank is not really suited to ray species for 1 your stocking is not ideal to house rays 2 reasons your smaller fish will end up as ray food (they might look sweet but rays are predatory) and 2 floors need maximum floor space they don’t have caves etc to live in like your last post have a look at all the ray keepers on this site we all have either bare or pretty much bare bottom tanks and all our widths are in excess of 30"+. I would listen to Andy if I was you get yourself a copy of the books suggested sit down have a good read of them and work out what it is you want to keep. You have the advantage of a pretty big tank so could be looking at some larger fish but don’t mix the 2 it will end in disaster.

I absolutely LOVE your tank! It makes me want to get into Salt Water Fish!

Not trying to be a jerk, but when that lion reaches full size, he's gonna have a nice little meal on his hands with some of those fish. Also Puffers are notorious fin nippers which doesnt work well with a lions large flowing fins. Just wanted to give you a heads up if you didnt already know.

Also hows that moorish idol doing? A lot of people have trouble with them, but an 8 foot tank would definitely help with keeping one.

hi there,
the lion fish is a fuzzy dwarf so he doesnt grow as big as a normal lion. the porcupine is more then happy to stay in his cave if his not talking to you and or eating.
