My Large Betta Splendens Collection

Yeah, it really is sad how bettas are stored in those dip cups, with not even enough room to stretch their fins. Even when the employees do water changes, they don't even take the time to properly accimilate them to new water. Irie sounds awesome, would love to see some pics.
Noticed your UN has "piranha" in it, do you also keep a few species of piranhas? I currently have a ruby red spilo and a piraya, though I've kept numerous species from blacks, mannies, macs and Cariba.

Haha, no, no piranhas for me.I was just trying to come up with a descent name really. I have a definite soft spot for betas though! Here is a picture of Irie, my one and only current beta. She currently has three ghost shrimp for tank mates. She was very curious about them at first, but now completely ignores them.

Re: Dominus_XVIII, thanks for the info., and oh what joy to find your own wild Bettas :)  Your fish look wonderful.  I may well be coming back to you as I am building up some nice fish to hopefully get a successful breeding program going myself.

Re: PiranhaGirl, Irie looks sweet, I have a number of girls in my 215L and I love them, they are all so individual and nosy.  Whenever I am doing maintenance on the aquarium they all have to be involved in some way.

I have just got three new females which are currently in Quarantine, they are about 3 months old and oh so sweet.  One is a silver dragon female to go with my male in the picture (hopefully).  She is so pure silver she is more like a platinum white silver.  The other two are violet, big ear butterfly Plakats to go with my boy below.  One of them was slightly paler to the other and I initially preferred the darker violet, however as she is maturing she is getting a metallic sheen to her so I am excited as to see what she is going to end up like.

I am a bit unsure whether to put these young girls into my 215L with the others as I would hate anything to happen to them.  As there are three of them the likelihood is that they should be OK, I understand I just need to change something in the aquarium to ensure they are not picked on.  This is going to be difficult as I have a lovely layout with all the plants/wood where I want them.  I think they would be able to find there own hiding holes if need be.  Any tips out there welcome?

LOVE the first black copper!

Yeah, that first Black Copper is my favorite also.  Such a beautiful creature.

I was going to order some Betta Imbellis from Aquabid but the seller was in Thailand & I was little worried doing business with another country so far away.  Then I found some pretty nice ones locally & I now have three of them, a Double Tail Half Moon, an Elephant Ear Super Delta & my favorite the Dragonscale Plakat.  When some space frees up I could be talked into expanding my Betta Town.

New pickups, all HMPKs/OHMPKs, 2 males 1 female

Wow! I LOVE your black copper HMPKs!! HMPKs are my favorite type of betta, they're so sharp and strong and menacing, just what I think of when I think of "fighting fish".

Lovely new fish, all stunning, I like Super black over halfmoon plakat male #1 the best of the three.  The female is a stunner too.

Betta Resistance is Futile ;)

LOVE them!  Really gorgeous bettas...and by the way, where are you picking your fish up?  I know we don't even live in the same country, but I'm curious because my LFS doesn't sell such spectacular fish.  (I mostly actually only go to PetSmart, as I don't have an exclusively fish shop near me.  So they just kinda jumble a bunch of random bettas in cups, "look at the pretty fish" instead of specifying strain, tail type, etc.)

I get most of my bettas off Aquabid and my from BigAl's Aquarium store. The BigAl's in my city is one of the biggest compared to the others in Canada, they pretty can pretty much get anything you ask them these days.

Here's also another over halfmoon plakat I won off Aquabid. Doesn't have the nicest rays or even fin form, but the dragon scales on it are pretty even compared to others I've seen. Looking forward to breeding it with the super black female I previously posted, that should produce a good batch of fry.

Wow that betta looks awesome! I have a hard time finding sellers that ship to Canada on aquabids, is there a trick to this?
Really? Most if not all the international betta breeders on Aquabid, ship to Canada. If you select the betta section, you'll see all the bids available. Ones with little blue and grey globes beside the bid title indicate international shipping.

Oh I'm not so much having issues with betta, it's everything else. Looking for cichlids I only found 2 I liked that would ship to canada

Oh I see, same here. I've been looking for good discus breeders to ship to Canada, but sometimes their stock isn't that nice or the shipping is usually on the high end.
