My Knife Will Be The Death Of Me!

So, I went out and bought a 3 inch ghost knife for my eighty gallon tank. He's getting along fine with his cichlid tankmates, and everything is going great. He's eating well, dances around in the current, but one thing


I always think he's dead! I know knives do all sorts of goofy things, but mine has dug a small crevice, and lays on his side under his pvc pipe.


As soon as I bring my face up close to check on him, he zips away. His second favorite place is wedged upside down in his red plant.


The little bugger is driving me crazy! XD


Is there any way I can encourage him to actually USE his pipe? It looks kind of silly just sitting there empty. The barbs and cichlids don't bother with it.

Try putting some of his food outside
and into the pipe to encourage him
to go in there

ergh. filled in the hole and he practically pitched a fit. He would not stop swimming around it, poking it with his nose, feeling sorry for himself.



So I gave in : / I guess I'll just have to put up with people asking "isn't that one dead?"
