ok, i'v got over 30 guppy fry, and i'm really worried because we are going on holiday in 3 days for a week and i cant exspect my next door neibour to come round and feed them everyday (we have 12 tanks in the house but 3 of them are only small 3 gallon tanks) i'v bought 6 pellets that feed them for 3 days, my sisters tanks will be ok though cause she feeds hers once a week anyway and 5 of the tanks are hers. i'm not really worried about my grown up guppies its just the fry, will they be okay with just 1 tablet in that feeds them for 3 days?

ow and forgot to mention, the 30+ fry are in 2 3 gallon tanks 2 2.5 gallon and a 4 gallon. when i say 30+ i think if i make an estimate there are about 56 so 30+ is inncorrect.

I wouldn't add the pellet things. They can have all kinds of nasty stuff in them, and they pollute the water very quickly. Most likely your fry couldn't handle that.

You are in a tough position though...is there no way somebody can come over and feed them some amount you've portioned out into a baggie, or something? Or perhaps you could try an automatic feeder?

not really, my mum said i cant exspect my next door neibour to come round and feed them every day. what is an automatic feeder?

ye cool but a bit pricey saying i'll have to buy 4 and only use them for a week.so what am i best to do give them alot of flakes bit of cucumba before i go or maybe i could cut the pelet and maybe just give them half or even a quater?

Not all of them are that pricey. That's just one. You'd have to see what's at your store.

And don't add a lot of flakes and cucumber before you leave. They will break down, add a LOT of ammonia to the tank, and that will most likely kill your fish. You don't want to come back to dead fish.

I don't know what to do...automatic feeders seem like the best bet to me, or having someone come over and give them food. I doubt fry can handle the feeder blocks. Unless it's a really tiny piece...and that doesn't even guarantee the fry will eat them.

well...i would try the auto feeders first cuz they are only like 10$ at walmart. you could just put them all in the bigest tank you have(that has nothing that would eat them) an put an auto feeder on it :D or just try fattening them up b4 you go an try to get the neighbor to feed them 2 or 3 times maybe

Have you got any live plants in the tanks? The fry will peck at them and any algae that grows on them.

Can you ask a close frined, close geographically as well, if you can plug the little fry tanks in at their house for a week?

That would seem the best, then they can simply feed them as you would without having to come to your house.... though I would assume in a tiny tank like that they would also need a waterchange during the week....

ye, there's about 56 in 5 tanks but there still very small. i normally do a water change at least once a week, but i'v put a air pump in 3 of the biggest tanks, i dont use pumps cause they would get sucked up.
