In the last week my Green Terror has gone off his food, the only food he will accept is blood worms but now he won't eat them. I've notice today his poo is stringy and clear, not sure what to do. He's in a 190 litre jewel TRIGON tank with a bristle nose Pleco, juwel filter and FLUVAL u4 filter, I'm doing 25% water changes weekly, ammonia is 0, nitrite, is 0, nitrate is 30ppm, and ph is 7. Temp is 25 degrees. Any thoughts on what to do or what's wrong?

Sounds to me like internal parasites but i'm pretty clueless on these things myself, just going off a similair thing that happened with a gbr of mine and a few peoples answers to help me.

Hopefully someone with some more experience will come along and help you too :good:

He's still not eating, has anyone got any advice before I buy a treatment for internal parasites.

If you are not sure what it is, then do daily water changes. Other than that, it's hard to say judging only on the fact that he stopped eating.

I will increase water changes but don't really see the benefit in daily water changes as the water parameters are good.

There is a lot more to water than just ammonia and nitrite for which unfortunately there aren't off the shelf tests. And it won't harm the fish.
One of my male guppy fry refused to eat for about 4 days with no other signs. I was quite worried, but he is back now. Didn't treat with anything as he had no other signs and also the other fish did not exhibit any either.
Hope yours is ok.

Thanks Snazy, I will hold off treatment until I know what the prob is and increase water changes, as you say, it won't do any harm. I'm just worried he's got something wrong internally which is causing his poo to be stringy and clear. glad your guppy fry are ok.

It might as well be something internal in your case. It's up to you to try meds.
In the mean time you can try feeding him pees with garlic(microwaved for a few seconds, then peeled and a glove of garlic run over them to give them a taste). It will help in any case with internal staff. I know Epsom salts is good too at 1tbsp per 5g even along medication as it acts as natural laxative and will help the fish pass out watever parasites/germs there are inside.
Good luck with watever you decide and keep us posted

Edit: Sorry, I meant 1tbsp per 5g, not a gallon

Fish suffering from internal parasites can be identified by the fecal discharge, which is usually white in color and appears as long transparent trailing string.
Some might even show more severe symptoms with a sunken or bloated belly and usually the fish often become lethargic with huge drop in appetite.
Sometimes the most severe cases even have the poop containing tiny whitish colored worms that are still alive.

Things are getting worse

, he still not eating, his poo looks very transparent and stringy, and his belly has sucked in a bit, so I bought some interpret Anti internal bacteria treatment. I just done a large water change and going to start this treatment tonight.
