Just found this in the depths of my pictures files... I think she was about 18 months old then - she is now 5.

Oh she's gorgeous !

POTM nomination for that lovely piccie :good:

Awwww thanks :D She is an absolute nutter and has yet to grow up (labs don't usually bother :D ) Her name is Sadie.

This is her as a little pup following a slight play with a hosepipe in the hot weather.....

She has been through quite a lot in her life so far. I nearly lost her at one time. She was playing in the garden with her brother (who belongs to a friend of mine) and her collar (that she has on in the first photo) got caught on one of his teeth. As she struggled, the collar got tighter and tighter around her neck and was throttling her. In the process my friend and I both got bitten. She was literally scared for her life bless her. I had to cut the collar with a pair of scissors (cutting my hand at the same time). By this time Sadie had lost conciousness but she eventually came round (phew). Collar went in the bin and I have never used that type of collar since. My friend and I ended up in casualty and had tetanus jabs in our bums.

Then, she ruptured her cruciate ligament in her leg and had to go for TPLO surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy). Within 6 months, she did exactly the same in her other back leg  Surgery again. Thank God for insurance (surgery cost £6000!!!!) That was done by simply bombing up the garden chasing squirrels.

Her latest trauma was a large lump in her neck that had to be cut out. I was so worried. It turned out that it was a mass of infection following a previous anti-sickness injection she had had some weeks before.

I am happy to say that now she is fully recovered from everything and you wouldn't know she had had anything done :good:

Wow, she's been through the mill and back. She looks adorable and she's got spunk to boot!

Went through a bit of a dodgy period with the cruciate ligament injury. Original vet x-rayed Sadie and said she had Arthritis and gave her a load of tablets saying she would need repeat prescriptions for evermore !!!!!!! I went to another vet for a second opinion and they picked up on the ruptured ligament straight away. We live in South London and had to take her to Hertfordshire the next day. I cannot thank them enough for their help :good:

Just goes to show there are even vets out there who are in it for their interests not the pets

awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww shes gorgeous.I have 2 yellow labs and would never be without a labrador now theyre just such a big part of my life.Lotties quite hyper but adores everyone and is always the first to greet people.Oscars a lazy bum and gets to you under his own steam

She is very beautiful, that is a well captured picture, and you are very lucky she is still alive after that collar issue, my friends dog actually killed its mother when her tooth got caught on his collar and he freaked out and eventually snapped her kneck, it was the craziest thing I have probably ever seen, I for one never thought that would happen, and im suprised that im actually seeing someone else that has had something similar but with a better ending

I love her to bits

I know I was very lucky - I really thought she had "gone". Her eyes were bulging and she just stopped breathing. It was pouring with rain and I just sort of kept rubbing her roughly shouting at her to wake up :-( My friend and I sort of went into autopilot and it wasn't until everything was over that we sort of felt the shock of it all. I remember there being blood everywhere and panicked a bit. I then realised that the blood was mine

A friend of mine from when I was at school used to have a yellow lab and she was gorgeous. Her name was Sadie and that is why I called mine Sadie. I went for the black as I always wanted one. My grandfather had a black lab years before I was born. They always spoke of him with great fondness. He was totally blind from birth (the dog, not my grandfather :D) but was a huge part of their lives :)

They are fantastic dogs and although mad - very clever :)
