So I headed over to the owner's house to pick up the gerbils. When I got there they were waiting in a little critter keeper. I had brought my own little carry cage thing and when I went to move them into the my carry cage they were not afraid to climb into my hands. So once I got home I moved into their new cage with no problems I watched them for about an hour. They are so much fun to watch- burrowing, chewing, climbing, grooming, eating, running. Oh I can tell I am going to love them so much. I still don't have any name ideas. They are both black females. Pictures coming soon by the way. But I suppose I better learn a good way to tell them apart before I decide names. :fun:

I got pictures!! I firgured out how to tell them apart to. They have different white markings on their front paws :) So I decided on some names.

aww theyre cute.

I like your technique of sitting in the bath the avoid them escaping lol,

very cute.
i think gerbils are ace as pets, always good companions when trained and handled properly.
just a word of warning, you may want to watch with that wheel, the gaps in the circuler bit are a danger to the gerbils feet as they may get stuck and break a limb which we dont want to happen. we all know how fast gerbils can be. a solid wheel would be better.
they are truely brillient tho, look forward to more pics.

Thanks :)

The holes are to small for their feet to catch or their tails. Thats why I got a mesh wheel. The solid wheels can be chewed or broken. But if I have any problems with the mesh wheel I will change it. Unless I can find a soild metal wheel thsi is what they shall have ;)

I have the same wheel. I hear those are safe but I duct tape mine just to be safe. On a gerbil forum I visit I have been told these types are safe though.

I have had no problems with it so far, I replace it every time I clean the tank., The duct tape is also what hold my water bottle up, along with two paper clips since they ate what is actually supposed to be holding it up.

Here is a great gerbil forum if you want to join http://gerbilforum.proboards21.com/index.cgi
I only go there sometimes though.

They chew the duct tape on the water bottle a bit but they don't swallow it, just chew and spit.

Yours are so adorable, I can't believe that's how small mine were when I got them. Is this your first pair? If so I can help you if you have questions I know most of my gerbil stuff.

Oh, Ok i just didn't know if you were new to the gerbil world or not good luck with them!
