Noooo, 35L is not near enough. Let me think, thats aobut 10-15 gallons. They need about a 40-55 gallon tank. So, at minnimum, your looking at about 180 L. Your fish, if not returned, will most likely become stunted, and die at a early age, plus that dye wont help him. I suggest you get something, like a albino mollie. The pink lights should make the mollies look pink.

Unfortunately, 35l won't be big enough for long. Don't feel bad, it seems only logical that pet stores would give good advice, but fact it, they often don't, and it's something that most people on this forum have been bitten by. They might be ill informed or out of date, they might be a part time kid in high school student whose only real knowledge comes from a 2 hour training seminar, or they might just be after a sale, facts be damned. It's the customer and the fish that suffer for it, but you're in a good place in that respect.

Blood parrots can reach up to 10 inches (at this size, the 1" per gallon rule goes out the window). I don't know much about them in particular, posting in the hybrid fish section would be a good idea, but a tank 2-3 times that size would probably be minimal for one.

On the topic, how did you handle tank setup/cycling? That's another subject fish stores nab people on a lot - reviewing the threads on cycling in the new to the hobby section would be a good idea (Easy way: Find a post by Miss Wiggle and check out the links in her sig - 90% of what you need to know about fish is in those links)
The man at the shop said that I could get my fish if I left my tank for one week - if I got these tablets (Tetra Bactozym)..
The tank I got came with my filter/heater and some tap water conditioner and somethingelse I've forgot what it#s called now - I'll check when I;m at home.
I put both of them in.
And I also got some API Stress Coat & API Stress Zyme. The booklet that came with my tank told me to add fish food to help the cycle so I did.
I left my tank running for a week and did water tests.

Hey sweet, unfortunatley you've been told a loada bull by the pet shop! As prev mentioned, its 100% not your fault, of course you are going to trust what they say. Im afraid your tank is nowhere near ready for fish, and if you keep him in there he may well suffer/die from ammonia poisoning.
The pet shop told you the crap that they did as they got a sale, and added loadsa rubbish chemicals on top that you dont really need.
Dont panic though. First off, you need to decide what you are going to do with fishie anyway. As mentioned, you wont be able to keep him in that tank, he needs one 4-5 times the size (think 3 foot long). I suggest taking him back to the shop and demanding your money back as he was defo mis-sold.
But, if you want to keep him for a bit then upgrade your tank soon, you need to buy a water test kit, and start doing regular (probably 4-5 times a week at the moment) water changes of around 40%.
Have a good read of Miss Wiggles link to cycling and it will give you all the info you need.
Sorry that you have been given such bad advice by the fish shop, but we dont want you finding the fish dead one morning and thinking its your fault xx

Eee.

Thanks everyone.

:( Poor fishhhhh pieeee :(

..Does anyone know about the black markings that are appearing on her???..
The pet shop told me this was normal for parrots and that the parrots they get in get black markings that come and go.. get smaller, get larger.
Is this true or is he lying to me AGAIN?! :(

xx

The black marks are most likelyhis Original coloring showing as he gets older. Hmm, there arent many fish out there that are pink. There is a reason why, if they are pink in the wild, they stand out, like a sign saying " EAT ME". So, it will be hard for you to find one, that isnt dyed.

Black marks are stress related, usually if the water is off then they will develop this (although its not a disease as such its just pigment). If your tank was recently set up and not cycled then thats probably the cause.

Heres one of my adult BP's for comparison, shes about 7" long.

So the black marks are likely to go once my tank is all ready?
I hope so, it looks really sad :( but I spose all fish look quit sad.. lol :)

Aww your fish is well nice :D
