My Fishless Cycle Log

That makes sense actually, I will dose at 2ppm from now on during the nitrite spike, im just glad that things are starting to get into shape :)

Cycle stats updated. Ammonia seems to be dropping from 3-4ppm in a day, I am unable to test every exactly every 12 hours as I work 11 hour shifts, which sucks :( When I test for Nitrite, the liquid turns purple right away but after you leave it for the 5 mins as per instruction, the liquid turns a blue/light purple which sits at about 0.25 - 0.50 on the chart, and as you can see from the cycle log, im not too sure if this is wrong?

If it turns dark purple right away that nothing else matters, it means the nitrite level is actually too high for it to make any kind of accurate reading. You are in the nitrite spike. WD

Keep at it!

It took about 2 weeks for my Nitrite spike to sort itself out. I wouldn't worry about 12h tests until you get a completely zero reading for nitrite at 24h - the test should stay the exact light blue it is when you add drops and shake, it won't change even a tiny bit at zero. If you test your tap water you'll see the colour I mean.

Sorry for not being in touch and updating the cycle logsheet. Just to let yous know...ITS CYCLED! :)

There are now 4 Copper Harlequins and 2 Leopard Cory...im going to let them settle down for a few weeks then I plan to put some Neon Tetra into the tank.
