1 kissing fish
1 golden barb (pain in the butt)
4 male guppies
1 female guppie
2 sissor fish
4 placys
4 swordtails
3 cat fish
1 other thing that sucks the tank (cant you tell im new to this )
1 female black molly
1 male black molly
1 dalmation male molly
1 silver female molly
1 silver male molly
and last 4 tetras that i dont know the name of , if anyone knows please could you tell me what they are called , they are quite flat , brown large fin at the top and 3 worm like things at the bottom of there body , they remind me of a parana

thanks Angelx

sound sliek agreat tank.........kissing fish get 10 inches long.....tetras will prolly be food for it......
also, how long have you had ur mollys, they're brackish, they need salt in their tank,,,,just a lil bit of it...and you have corys...they dont cohabitate

With all of the male and female mollies and guppies be prepared for a lot of baby fish which unless you do something to remove will become food for the others.

The sucking thing is probably a pleco of some sort which can become very large and messy. The kissing gourami will probably get big enough to eat the tetras, especially without a mate.

Make sure you have plenty of hiding spaces for the smaller fish. If your catfish are cory cats they are no problem and you can even add a couple more.

Good luck with your new tank and try to learn as much as you can on the forums about all the different species of fish.

u have 3 catfish are the pleacs ? because they probaly will get 2 big for the tank specially 3 of them!!

Well i forgot to mention my very cute micky mouse fish i have 4 , the cat fish i have are brown with black spots , the kissing fish i have dosent seem to bother any off the other fish but the golden barb i have does , he dosent seem to like my swordtails really needs to be taken out , well iv'e had loads off babys since iv'e had my tank but 99% of them have been eaten even tho i have lots off plants , think i have 4 mollys that have survived that i havent mentioned and a few baby guppies that keep escaping from there box which also will get eaten if they they doing the vanishing trick , not ure of the name of the glass sucker i have but i can tell you he /she is very ugly :( how big did you say they grow lol

The golden barb bothers other fish because he's lonely. Barbs in general often get aggressive towards other fish if they're not kept in a shoal of 6 or more. Since golden barbs can grow to 4 inches and a shoal needs lots of room (not to mention a large barb like that will intimidate the small fish), I'd suggest you remove the golden barb instead of getting more.

I did have a pair off barbs but one sadly died the day after i had them , was just thinking about how many fish you can have in a 4 ft tank i have 46 fish at the mo , that isnt to many is it ? I also have 5 baby guppies but not sure yet if they will survive .ide love to buy more :/

andrewrenard,
mollies are not necessarily brackish, most are sold as freshwater nowadays. they should be kept in brackish only if that is how they were kept where they were bought. if they were kept as fw by the lfs, then they need to remain as fw, as many will not acclimate well from one to the other. the whole MUST BE BRACKISH thing is a continuing misconception that was started by researchers back in the day who didn't do all their research, and as new books are written, they just take that old information and spout it as gospel. just an fyi.

does sound like its a bit over stocked coz ive only got 11 fish in mine and thats stocked to the brim and its same size as his

We can't say anything about whether or not the tank is overstocked until you give us all the measurements (length, height, width), or the volume. Just giving the length isn't enough.

In my opinion, you have far too many male guppies with the ration to female guppies. They wil harass her to mate, and probably end up killing her. You should always have more females than males with Guppies. :D Have fun and good luck!!

well i just mesured my tank, the length is 4ft the width is 10 inches and the height is 18 inches , but to me it looks as if it needs more , but not going to buy any as im going to invest in a loverly bran new tank :D

i think your tank is about a 35 gal. and all in all you have...

8 neon tetras - 8"
1 kissing fish - 10"
1 golden barb (pain in the butt) - 2"
4 male guppies - 6"
1 female guppie - 1.5"
2 sissor fish - can't find it on the website i'm using right now
4 placys - 8"
4 swordtails 16"???
3 cat fish - depends what sort...
1 other thing that sucks the tank (cant you tell im new to this ) - ???
1 female black molly - 3"
1 male black molly - 3"
1 dalmation male molly - 3"
1 silver female molly - 3"
1 silver male molly - 3"

67.5" of fish, not including those which i couldn't work out (obviously!!) which probably get quite big, especially if they are plecos... -_-

and according to the 1" of fish per gallon, you are drasticaly overstocked
